“I bought your flour and a gift package a few months ago, and have been so happy with your special, freshly milled grains. I am wondering whether you would be able to ship to me internationally (I will be in Israel soon).”

“My wife and I just saw you in a film (Good Food) made by the sister of one of our good neighbors here on Bainbridge Island. I'm an avid food and flower gardener, and have been interested in what grains grow well in western Washington, so I found your segment of the movie especially interesting.  Anyway, I'm looking forward to our order of Farro and flour. Thank you for working hard and smart and taking care of the land.”

“I have to tell you a great story. I was talking to one of my neighbors, a 4th generation Lopezian farmer while she was making pancakes for her kids and her grandfather. She said, "normally I don't like pancakes because they sit so heavy in my stomach and I feel lousy all day but I've been making them from this wildbird or bluebird or something mix that they have at Blossom and I actually feel good all day after I eat these pancakes." Then she added, "it's from Winthrop, maybe you've heard of it."   Even if she didn't get your name right at first, you're making a difference!”

“I bought a package of whole grain hard red bread flour at the University Farmers' Market in Seattle this past Saturday. I made two loaves of bread using my old tried-and-true recipe. Wow! These two loaves are the best I've made in a long time. I'm sure the difference is your excellent, freshly milled flour. Even using rather expensive organic flours from Whole Foods, I've had to toss loaves that had a rancid after taste. These two loaves, I know I'll enjoy to the very last piece. I'm so delighted. I was about to quit baking bread because I couldn't get decent flour. Maybe it's time to invest in a flour mill and buy the berries. I also bought a package of the hot cereal blend (emmer, rye, and flaxseed). I had a bowl for breakfast and it was delicious. Thank you for such wonderful products!”

“We have been using farro for about 6 years now – we first discovered it in Garfagnana, Italia. We discovered your brand at the U District Seattle farmers market last summer – we were so pleased when the coop here started carrying it… now it is time for us to add you to our vendor collection. We no longer purchase the imported Italian brands – yours is that good!!!”

“THANK YOU!!  -- for your involvement in “Good Food” and for bringing the notion of organic, sustainable food to a wider audience.  You are helping to make my job so much easier!  If ever anyone deserved a standing ovation like last night, it should be for you, the farmers.”

“What a wonderful newsletter you two wrote – so glad you are doing what you are doing, you are improving the health and sustainability of the us all in the valley and beyond – cannot wait to try the risotto.”

“I have been milling grains at home to make whole grain breads for my family for over twenty years--sometimes it's hard to find wheat berries locally, and when I do, the quality varies.  Last year I ordered some of your hard red wheat and I was impressed at how clean it was--no twigs or dust at all.  When I made my everyday whole wheat bread with it, everybody noticed that it was especially delicious!  Keep up the good work!  I just wanted to thank you for your excellent products, and let you know how much I've enjoyed reading about your farm on your website.”

“The grain/flour subscription is a huge hit in our family. I am so thankful that we found you!!”

“I just wanted to take a moment to follow up and let you know that I did receive the Old World cereal blend in my CSA box last week, and I absolutely love it!  So hearty and delicious – it will definitely become a regular item on my shopping list.  In this weather in particular, I think I could happily live on it for several days on end.”

“…last night we ate at Jerry Traunfeld's new restaurant, Poppy.  It is our second time there - and a great experience.  He serves Bluebird Farms Farro on his "Thali Plates."  His farro selection was:  baked farro with sage and leek.  OMG, delish!  So, Bluebird is being well served by Poppy.”

“Just a note to say that I love the cracked emmer!  We’ve had it several times now for breakfast, and we really enjoy it- it’s everything I ever wanted cracked wheat to be- except better- a whole lot better.  I’ll definitely be back for more.”

“Brooke, my daughter who lives near Langley, WA sent me the Old World Cereal Blend via post office all the way to central GA where on several rainy mornings my mother (89) and I cooked up some gruel and warmed ourselves thoroughly.  What an amazing event!!  I just want to say thank you folks, and your team, for creating a little of heaven on earth. I felt so blessed to be experiencing a very small part of what you are sowing and growing in the soil out there in WA.”

We've been loving our CSA boxes and sharing them with a friend who also is enjoying them. If you're looking for additional customers I can help spread the word in the Seattle area so let me know.

“It was so nice of your mom to drop off the Emmer Farro.  I've got to tell you, it is beautiful, I'm tempted to frame it instead of eating it.  I look forward to cooking with the Farro.”

”I just wanted to let you know I bought a bunch of your flours, and today I got to enjoy the first loaf of bread from your hard red wheat- delicious!  Head and shoulders above the stuff at whole foods.  So thanks!”

“Thank you so much for having your granary tour yesterday.  We are so fortunate to have farmers and business people like you two in the valley.  Your products are tops not only in taste but in nutritional quality.  For the first time this morning we had waffles from your emmer mix - fantastic!

“I just want to say I think you all do a marvelous job of growing nutritious food and being a fantastic model for small farm marketing.  Your newsletters, logo, writings, products, and packaging are professional but earthy. “

“I wanted to thank you for spending the time to grow and produce such wonderful items. The farro I purchased from you looks wonderful. It was so impressive that I needed to order the second bag for my sister. Your web site is great, full of interesting information. I admire the dedication both you and your husband put into your products. I hope your business continues to grow but you also continue to deal direct with your customers.  Thanks again and keep up the great work.”

“Please pass on my sincere gratitude to all those on the farm who get there hands dirty growing my grain. I live in the middle of the Canadian prairies with wheat fields that go on forever, so I have witnessed close up the work (and some luck) it takes to take a successful crop off the field. Growing organically and bio-dynamically as you do must be much harder, and take much more thought than just dumping chemicals on the fields. Myself and the guests in my restaurant can taste the difference. We also must thank you for doing your part to make this a healthier planet. Myself along with many Chefs in this city are pushing our local farmers to take the challenge to supply healthier choices directly to us. Slowly they are responding.”
