While I am not a book critic I do read a lot and have a deep appreciation for poets/writers who draw inspiration from nature and their chosen livelihoods that offer them immersion and stewardship of the land. I find Samuel Lucy's stories and poems to be brilliant, observant, tender, and kind with characters and subjects down to earth and relatable. As a passionate gardener/cook,food preservationist I am moved to my culinary souls depths when reading Mountain Stew. This collection has found a place next to one of my favorite poets and author Wendell Berry. Much Gratitude

Sam and Brooke Lucy operate an award winning organic farm where they practice organic regenerative farming by growing ancient grains. Between growing seasons, Farmer Sam finds time to write stories and poems. “Colors” is Sam’s second collection of his stories and poems. From “Earth Day” to “Sanctuary,” Sam’s stories and poems speak to his love of farming, family, friends and Mother Earth. His stories and poems speak to my soul.
