Organic Old World Cereal Blend

A blend of cracked emmer, cracked rye, and whole flax seed. This hot cereal is a hearty whole grain cereal or porridge, reminiscent of the old world. The earthy pungent flavor of dark northern rye merges with the sweet nutty flavor of emmer. The brown flax adds fiber and texture creating a unique, handcrafted, full bodied blend. Cooks in 12-15 minutes.

On stovetop, add 1 cup of cereal to 3 cups of water with a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil. Simmer on low until water is absorbed and bubbles appear, 12-15 minutes.
Old World Cereal can also be cooked in a rice cooker on the white rice setting.
You can also soak the cereal overnight in a milk or milk substitute product and then warm before eating. Use 1 cup of cereal to 2 cups of liquid for overnight soaking, add a pinch of salt and spices as desired.
One cup makes 3-4 servings.
